Juliette Gordon Low and her Contemporaries in Savannah's Art Scene
Telfair Academy, Telfair Museums, Savannah, Georgia, 2012
As a former Girl Scout, I had the great pleasure to curate this exhibition as part of the 100th anniversary celebration of the founding of Girl Scouts. I focused on Low’s interest in art as both an artist and an art organizer. Juliette, or Daisy, as her friends called her, fostered a lifelong love of the arts by taking a leading role in the Savannah art scene in the early 20th century as a founding member of the Savannah Art Club, in addition to creating her own work. Through this organization she and other Savannah artists sought to promote and improve the quality of fine arts created, offered, and displayed in the city. Photo credit: David J. Kaminsky
